The U.S. Open returns to Shinnecock Hills for the first time since 2004, and LMK Productions was there to capture the beauty of the course and the trophy in the weeks leading up to play. 2018’s U.S. Open finds the course revamped with an added 548 yards to the course, topping out at 7,445 yards; and the conversion of 7 acres of fairway into rough. During the 2004 US Open, the par 3, Seventh hole and some other greens were so fast and severe that even the world’s elite golfers found it virtually un-playable. To ensure this year’s U.S. Open runs smoothly, the USGA is prepared with all sorts of high-tech solutions, ranging from firmness meters to drone technology to monitor turf temperatures.

For LMK Productions, Cameraman, Michael Kushner and AC, Ryan Wendler traveled from HQ in Orlando to Southampton, NY to capture promotional footage for this year’s US Open. Utilizing a camera with 5K resolution and Zeiss lenses, the crew shot images for plates, show open footage and Network promos for NBC/ Golf.
